Springtime in St. Elmo, Colorado - Lots Of Snow Remains

St. Elmo, Colorado April 18, 2008 - Yes, I suppose it is officially spring in Colorado, even though we are still receiving many snowstorms in April, a historically snowy month. In the lower elevations, the snow usually does not stick around for long. Ah, but in the heart of the Sawatch Mountains, the massive amounts of snow are taking its good ol' time melting. I would like to dedicate this picture collection to all of you "hot weather" visitors in places like Arizona, Texas and Florida. Check out the snow!

In personal news, I returned back to Buena Vista three weeks ago after bicycling across America. Yep, I rode my bike from the Pacific Ocean in San Diego to the Atlantic Ocean in Georgia, totaling about 2,400 miles of riding. You can read my ongoing trip reports of all 45 days of my adventure here: Bike Trip Main Page.

By the way, should you visit the mountains and/or access the high country in the near future, please be extremely cautious, for the avalanche danger is very high.

Lastly, just look at that poor truck (right photo) still quite surrounded by all that snow! :)

All the best,
Steve

The Arkansas River - Buena Vista, Colorado Arkansas River
Oh ... I just thought I'd add a photo of the Arkansas River from yesterday morning (April 17). We received some snowfall and I thought the white covering looked really pretty by the river.
