Mud Season In St. Elmo - A Scenic Colorado Drive
March 25, 2007 - Snow. There is still lots of it here in the mountains of Colorado,
and today's visit to St. Elmo, I spotted a few cross-country
skiers and two families with kids sledding down hills.
Please don't be fooled by delusions by some that Spring has arrived. Winter's grip is still quite alive and well in the Sawatch Mountains, and in fact, we received snowfall all morning and afternoon yesterday. The local ski areas (Monarch Mountain and Ski Cooper) are bustling this week with many vacationing here for um, spring break, but I'm not sure you would have thought it was Spring if you had been with me today when I sunk into areas of snow that were almost waist-high. ;) All of the snowy photos on this page were all taken today, and I chose the snowy and muddy road as the 'feature photo' for this page. The temperatures are definitely rising, but I will assure you there are still many more snowstorms coming to these mountains. Winter doesn't leave so quickly in this part of the country. All the best, Steve :) Home - St. Elmo Forum |
