Steve's Internet Wi-Fi Adventure In St. Elmo

St. Elmo, Colorado February 13, 2007 - I will admit my adventure today was a little "out of the box" but what an adventure it was!

I recently purchased a laptop and have been thoroughly enjoying Internet access remotely from various places. This afternoon, I made the drive to St. Elmo hoping that maybe, just maybe, there would be a wireless Internet connection in town. I was not expecting to have any luck, but once I pulled past the St. Elmo General Store, I picked up one free wireless connection! Woo-hoo!

I continued to drive around and found the connection to be really good along the old bridge above Chalk Creek. (See the adjacent photo - Yeehaw!)

I do want to give special thanks to whomever it is up there who has provided an accessible wireless Internet connection in this special ghost town. If you identify yourself to me on the St. Elmo Forum, I will be sure to bring a six-pack of beer, a pizza or a few bucks to show my appreciation! :)

Below are some extra photos of my visit from the afternoon. Snow was coming down ever so slightly when I visited at 1:20 p.m., but now as I look out to the west from Bongo Billy's in Buena Vista, the snow is coming down hard! ;)

All the best,
Steve :)

Soft Shoulder on Chaffee County Road 162 Here is a photo of the eastbound view of the "soft shoulder" that one really needs to be careful around on Chaffee County Road 162. The scenery is great! :)
Oooooooh! My car and I made it on the St. Elmo web cam! ;)
